About the Hotel
The Roosevelt Baths & Spa at Gideon Putnam Hotel is one of the most historically significant therapeutic bathing facilities in North America. Built in 1935 during FDR's presidency as part of the New Deal, the bathhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and sits inside Saratoga Spa State Park — the only national historic landmark that is a functioning spa. Guests soak in private rooms filled with naturally carbonated geothermal mineral water that has bubbled up from the earth for centuries. The connected sauna and steam facilities complete a water ritual tradition that attracted presidents, industrialists, and European royalty throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. The adjacent Gideon Putnam Hotel, a grand Georgian Revival property, has served as the resort's anchor since 1935.
